How the Kit Is Used

Medi Sense dialysis kit: dialyzer, fistula needles, and blood tubing
On the hemodialysis machine

Three devices, one treatment set

The Medi Sense kidney dialysis kit is three sterile, single-use devices that work together on a hemodialysis session: fistula needles for blood access, blood tubing to and from the machine, and a hollow fiber dialyzer. Superior Healthcare International supplies that kit. The points below follow the printed labels. The full instruction for each device stays on that device’s own pack.

  • Fistula needles for blood access
  • Blood tubing on the machine circuit
  • Dialyzer for the extracorporeal circuit
  • Each device is single use

How the three parts fit

Access, circuit, exchange

Sterile arteriovenous fistula needle sets with a rotated wing, for hemodialysis blood access. Labelled sizes: OCI-16G and OCI-17G, each in 25 mm and 32 mm. Single use.

Needle page

Model OCI-BL-HDA(a1-b1-c1-d1) carries blood in the extracorporeal circuit. Pump segment inside diameter 9.8 mm. Arterial line red, venous line blue. Blood volume 160 mL. Not for a heart-lung machine.

Tubing page

Low flux polyethersulfone model OCI-HD180L, membrane area 1.8 m². For use only with a dialysis machine that controls ultrafiltration. Maximum transmembrane pressure 500 mmHg (66.5 kPa).

Dialyzer page
Machine requirement

Controlled ultrafiltration required

The dialyzer label states use only with a dialysis machine that controls ultrafiltration. Buyers match the labelled membrane area, needle gauge and length, and tubing pump segment to the machine before ordering quantity from Superior Healthcare International.

  • Dialyzer: low flux OCI-HD180L, 1.8 m²
  • Needles: 16G and 17G, 25 mm and 32 mm
  • Tubing: 9.8 mm pump ID, recommended −50 kPa to +50 kPa
  • Ethylene oxide sterilised where stated; single use; not resterilised

Limits and storage that travel with the pack

Intended use in brief

Fistula needles are for hemodialysis blood access. Blood tubing is a sterile hemodialysis blood tubing set for the extracorporeal circuit. It is not for a heart-lung machine, and it is not for the infusion of a liposoluble liquid or medicine. The dialyzer is a hollow fiber hemodialyzer for use only with a machine that controls ultrafiltration.

Pressure and flow on the tubing label

The tubing label allows a maximum positive pressure of 66.5 kPa and a maximum negative pressure of −66.5 kPa. The recommended working range is −50 kPa to +50 kPa. Blood flow may differ from the machine display by less than 10%. The maximum needle size named on that label is 21G. Some parts that contact blood are PVC containing DEHP.

Single use and storage

Each of the three devices is single use. The dialyzer is not to be resterilised. Keep the kit dry, between 0°C and 40°C. The dialyzer label also asks for ventilated, clean, non-corrosive air and relative humidity up to 80%. The blood tubing set is not to be squeezed. The stated shelf life on the tubing label is three years.

Names on every pack

Chengdu OCI Medical Devices Co., Ltd. is the manufacturer. Medi Sense is the brand. Superior Healthcare International is the importer and authorized distributor. CE 1639 is printed on these labels. An EU representative is also named on the label. The full clinical instruction remains on each pack. This page summarises how the three devices sit together so a buyer can match them to the machine before requesting a quotation.
